Happy 11th Birthday Mikaela

I love Birthdays!!! It is tradition at our house to pick your own cake, ice cream and dinner for the day. It is very hard for Mikaela to make decisisions but after much deliberating she chose strawberry shortcake for her cake and we forgot ice cream but we had some of the best egg nog ice cream at home already and she couldn't decide on dinner so we had Taco Soup mmmmm that made me happy.

We went to the store to buy stawberry shortcake fixin's, did you know they are hard to find this time of year? Well they are, especially at our local market, more because they are remodeling everything right now than anything. She decided on White cake with whipped cream and frozen raspberries mmmmm it turned out yummy too.

We watched one of her favorite movies "Freaky Friday" and played a card game called (pre) Rummy Roots. The game is fun, a little like "Fish", you match words with their greek or latin roots. Example: thermos=heat, hydro=water, aqua=water, etc. You see I put pre before the name of the game, because before you can actually play "Rummy Roots" you need to be semi fluent in what the terms actually mean. We are looking foward to actually playing the game.... without using the cheat sheet of what each word means.

10. Not cool that in Roman mumerals you're only two.

9. Also rhymes with "7", goofy first graders are seven.

8. Less and less likely to be allowed to only eat desserts at family gatherings.

7. PG-13 still a long way off.

6. Old enough to start questioning the importance of video games.

5. Expected to happily share good birthday presents.

4. Old enough to get some increased responsibility.

3. Still too young to do celebrity endorsements.

2. Can't get away with stuff you could when considered "Cute".

2. ...smart bright....The way you have completed entire series of books.

3. ...good and kind to other people bright....

4. ....you light up the room with your bright smile.

5. You are sooo creative, in a lot of things but I'm thinking of when you write your stories and make little tiny things out of paper or draw teeny tiny pictures, like that Christmas tree I found in the van when we were cleaning it out today.
